Oh my goodness. Another stunning afternoon filled with golden light, lots of laughter, a few tears, cuddles and total chaos.
I hope you enjoy your sneak peek Karyn.
So I have been thinking lately about what makes a great family photo? Most people would like the perfect shot where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. But for me it’s a whole lot more. I think a combination of factors make for an awesome image.
For me, first and foremost it’s all about the magical golden light. I’m always going on about it but I love it. I love the warmth of it.
Then it’s about a little planning and having a great combination of clothing choices, so the family looks “put together” in an effortless sort of way. Not matchy matchy – but choosing a colour palette to work with and then building on that. I love working together with a family to help plan their outfit choices.
Finally it’s about emotion and connection. I love the pictures where not everyone is looking at the camera, the little nuance of a genuine smile as a daughter cuddles with her dad, the roar of laughter as someone is tickled, the pensive look, and my favourite is when someone has their back to the camera but you can almost feel what they’re thinking and feeling.
When all these elements come together – Magic Happens
